Career: Darren McCarty is a former professional ice hockey player from Canada. He gained popularity for playing with the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. As an enforcer of the team, he won the Stanley Cup in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008. He retired from playing the sport in 2009 and worked as an NHL Analyst for Versus. He made appearances on Hockey Central and Hardcore Pawn. He also has his weekly podcast, Grind Time with Darren McCarty in 2018.
Early life: McCarty was born in 1972 in British Columbia, Canada. He spent much of his childhood days in Leamington, Ontario and played for the Southpoint Capitals minor teams.
