Wendel Clark is a former professional ice hockey player whose career lasted for 15 years. He started his professional career in 1985 with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played forward and was known for his physical play and determination for scores. Wendel Clark also became the captain of the team from 1991 to 1994. Wendel Clark was chosen as the first overall in the National Hockey League Entry Draft in 1985 by the Toronto Maple Leafs. During his 15-year professional career in the sport, Wendel Clark played for Toronto Maple Leafs, Quebec Nordiques, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings, and Chicago Blackhawks. Wendel Clark’s son, Kody, also played for the Ontario Hockey League in 2016 and was even selected by the Washington Capitals during the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. As a tribute to Wendel Clark for his contributions to ice hockey, the Canadian band, The Rheostatics, composed and performed the song “The Ballad of Wendel Clark Parts I & II.”
