Billy Smith was part of the Islanders from the very beginning as the #4 overall pick in the 1972 NHL Expansion Draft and throughout the Islanders dynasty years in the early 1980's he went on to win 4 Stanley Cup Championships, 1 Conn Smythe Trophy, 1 Vezina Trophy and 1 William M. Jennings Trophy. Smith was loyal to the Islanders for his entire career and his jersey #31 was retired by the Long Island team in 1993. Later that year, Smith was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame – the only goaltender inducted in the 1990's. In 2017, he was named one of the 100 greatest NHL players of all time.
