With two daughters from a previous relationship, and another two together with Jo, Craig felt like his family was finally complete, so “the time just seemed right to ask Jo the question,” he says.
The couple booked a table in a Manchester restaurant, one Jo has always dreamed of going to, and Craig knew it would be the perfect opportunity. “It needed to be special, she is a special person,” he says.
His proposal had to be something different, something memorable. Since Jo loves The Real Housewives of Cheshire, Craig wondered if he could somehow get a message from Rachel Lugo, one of her favourites.
Whilst searching he discovered memmo.me, looked for Rachel and “bingo, there she was!”
“When the memmo arrived it was just perfect. Rachel put emotion and her own personality into it, it gave me goosebumps!” Craig recalls.
Picking his moment at the restaurant, he showed Jo the video. She was dumbstruck.
“I don’t think it sank in,” he says, so he played the memmo again and this time it clicked.
Both the proposal and the memmo came as a complete surprise to Jo, she felt overwhelmed that a celebrity had taken the time out to be a part of her special moment.
“It felt lovely for Rachel to be involved in the proposal and made it feel really personal as I love watching her on Real Housewives,” Jo says.
She highlights that the best part of her experience was having Rachel say words that truly meant something, and says: “She sounded sincere, put her own emotion into it and really sounded happy for us.”
“The memmo made this such a special occasion, something that we will both remember forever. It was a fantastic moment that brought a tear to both her eye and mine,” Craig concludes.
The fiancés sent their own video message back to Rachel who, to their surprise, got in touch with them through social media to wish them luck for the future.
Rachel Lugo, reality star from The Real Housewives of Cheshire, says: “To be involved in a proposal is such an honour. I was so excited when it came through just knowing I was going to be part of such an important, life-changing moment. I’ll remember it forever. I’m so glad she said yes!”
CEO and Co-founder of memmo.me, Tobias Bengtsdahl, says: “What’s beautiful about this story is that Rachel felt just as honoured to be a part of their special moment as Craig and Jo felt having her ‘there’. The magic of a memmo is truly contagious and charms everyone involved; not just those who receive it, but also the celebrity sending it, us facilitating it, and anyone who watches it. It’s powerful knowing the immense ripple effect a memmo can have.”
