memmo moments: A powerful trio of memmos from the Real Housewives of Cheshire

29/09/2022

Battling with ongoing treatment, Liv’s birthday was something she wanted to skip over this year. That was until she received video messages from her three favourite RHOC ladies wishing her well on her big day...

Earlier this year, Claire Jones and Olivia Maguire, mother and daughter, were faced with some shocking news. 15-year-old Liv was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH).

“We are now some months into Liv’s two-year chemo treatment. The outlook looks good for her, it’s just a long road ahead for us at the moment,” says Claire.

Liv has been incredibly brave and upbeat, but it has also affected her badly, according to Claire.

“Her confidence has gone due to the effects of the drugs and her friends have dropped off because she’s been too ill to go out. Perhaps they didn’t understand what she was going through,” she says.

“This made Liv so lonely, and it’s heartbreaking because she is such a lovely girl with a good heart, cracking sense of humour and a desperate need for a lovely friendship.”

Throughout this time, Liv and Claire binge-watched the Real Housewives of Cheshire together and ‘absolutely loved the antics the ladies got up to’.

Originally from Wrexham, Claire recognises a lot of the areas where the show is filmed, and loves ‘seeing her old haunts’.

Liv started to do impressions of some of the ladies which would have Claire in stitches.

After seeing memmo.me pop up on Facebook, Claire decided to see if any of the ladies were available, and if she could do anything to put a smile on Liv’s face on her birthday.

First she booked videos from Lauren Simon and Lystra Adams, then later from Tanya Bardsley, Liv’s three favourites from the show.

“Literally within the hour, Tanya responded with her message that had me in tears, as well as Tanya herself!” she exclaims.

Tanya Bardsley says: “Something so simple as sending a video message to Liv, was truly amazing. It was so emotional I couldn’t help but well up whilst I was filming it. I truly wish her all the best.”

All of the messages had Claire blubbering, she couldn’t wait for Liv’s birthday for which she’d arranged for the messages to be sent to Liv’s phone at different times throughout the day.

Once she had received all three videos, Liv said: “I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t know whether to scream, cry or what! It was the best thing!”

“It really made my birthday because I didn’t want it to happen this year, I just wanted to skip past it and forget it. But it turned out to be good because of these messages,” she continues.

"I can only imagine what she’s going through,” Lystra Adams says, continuing that “just with me sending a message being able to put a smile on her face was amazing, sending her lots of love and telling her she can get through this.”

Liv and Claire both posted thank yous to their Instagram accounts. People who hadn’t wished Liv a happy birthday saw the messages and then contacted her, ‘which was so nice’.

memmo.me’s CEO, Tobias Bengtsdahl, says: “We are honoured to have played a part in making Liv’s birthday so special. It’s always a privilege to hear about the incredible memories that are created with memmos, memories that will be held onto forever.”

Rounding up the whole experience, Claire says: “The impact these messages had was to turn a birthday that Liv didn’t want and was dreading, into a perfect day, and for that, I thank memmo.me and those beautiful ladies from the bottom of my heart.”
