The PFA partners with Swedish platform memmo

29/09/2022

The Professional Footballers’ Association is announcing a formal partnership with memmo, the Swedish platform connecting fans and businesses with public figures, celebrities, and influencers via personalised video greetings, to encourage its network of members to digitally connect with their fans.

memmo, which launched in the U.K. in November 2020, is a platform designed to revolutionise fan experiences by allowing customers to purchase personalised videos from celebrities and public figures. Messages for friends, colleagues, family members, and loved ones include birthday greetings, wedding speeches, well‐wishes, Christmas cards or shoutouts.

The memmo platform currently hosts iconic players such as Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, Bruce Grobbelaar, Paul Merson, Matt Le Tissier, Roy Evans, Emile Heskey, and Sven-Göran Eriksson, with some of the talent receiving almost 100 orders per week. Since launching in the U.K., memmo has received more than 2,500 orders of videos from current and former athletes.

This surge in demand has been partly in response to 2020’s global restrictions, which have limited human interaction and in-person activities like sporting events and live entertainment. Other major categories on the memmo platform that have seen a spike in demand include actors, influencers, musicians, comedians, reality television stars and much more.

Bobby Barnes, PFA Deputy Chief Executive, says: “We are happy to be working with memmo, a platform that can provide fans with the opportunity to get their footballing hero to send a message to a family member or friend."

Rob Petts, memmo’s UK MD, comments: “Over the last few months, we have seen huge demand for video messages from footballers. Fans of the game often feel like they know their players, given they watch them toil every single week. Now with our technology, members of the public can hear from their heroes directly. This partnership with the PFA connects fans to players in a way that’s never been done before, and is a big step in the direction of making impossible fan experiences possible to anyone, anywhere."
