Career: Sylvester McCoy is a Scottish actor and comedian. He gained popularity for portraying the seventh incarnation of the Doctor in the science fiction series, Doctor Who (1987-1989). He also portrayed the character, Radagast, in The Hobbit film series. In addition to these, he made appearances in various shows, such as The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling, and The Dead Move Fast. He also performed with the Carl Rosa Company in The Mikado. Other than his acting career, he also made appearances in the television series, The Bill, the Rab C. Nesbitt, Still Game, Casualty, and Doctors.
Early life: McCoy was born in 1943 in Scotland. He has an Irish mother and an English father who was killed during World War 2. He attended school in St. Mun’s School then went for the priesthood at Blairs College in Aberdeen. He then left the seminary and continued his education at Dunoon Grammar School.
